Since its inception in 2014, FightMND has been a beacon of hope for those battling Motor Neurone Disease (MND), also known as the "Beast." The organisation was founded with a singular mission: to find effective treatments and ultimately a cure for this debilitating disease. Over the past decade, FightMND has become a powerful voice and guiding force for Australians committed to combating MND.
Motor Neurone Disease is a progressive and incurable illness that gradually attacks the motor neurons, leading to a severe decline in physical abilities. Patients with MND face the heartbreaking loss of their ability to move, eat, speak, and eventually breathe—often within an average of just 27 months from diagnosis. This relentless progression underscores the urgent need for research and support in the fight against this devastating disease.
Since its founding, FightMND has invested over $97 million into research and initiatives aimed at combating MND. These funds have supported critical research projects, advanced clinical trials, and provided essential support services to those affected by the disease. Despite these significant investments, the battle against MND is far from over. FightMND continues to push forward, determined to reach the summit of this daunting Everest: finding a cure.
One of FightMND’s key initiatives, Daniher's Drive, is an annual event that embodies the spirit of community and collective action in the fight against MND. Daniher’s Drive is more than just an event; it’s a movement.
The fight against MND requires the collective effort of individuals, communities, and organisations. Here’s how you can contribute:
